Anne Ebbs, born Anne Sinnott in either 1940  was a pioneering figure in Irish Paralympic sports.

Renowned for her achievements in table tennis, she secured silver and bronze medals across multiple Paralympic Games, showcasing her skill and determination.

Her tireless efforts elevated the status of Paralympic sports in Ireland, fostering cooperation and advocating for athletes’ rights.

She passed away at the age of 82, at her residence on Dromena Road, Castlebellingham, and was previously of Donore Village, Co. Meath.

Serving as the organization’s secretary general until 2008, Anne worked tirelessly to promote inclusivity and equal opportunities for athletes with disabilities, leaving a lasting legacy in Irish Paralympic sports.

Honored with the prestigious Paralympic Order in 2008 and the Irish Paralympic Order in 2012, Ebbs’ contributions to the Paralympic movement have been recognized at the highest levels.

Additionally, she had the privilege of serving as a torchbearer for the 2012 Summer Olympics, proof to her esteemed reputation in the sporting community.

Beyond her Paralympic endeavors, Ebbs’ influence extends to the wider sports landscape, as evidenced by her inclusion in the 2012 Summer Olympics assembling team in 2006.

Her recognition further include the Trailblazers Award bestowed by the Women’s Executive Network in 2013 and recognition by Paralympics Ireland at the More Than Sports event in 2016.
