Natalia Grace Barnett is a Ukrainian-born American adoptee with dwarfism.
Suffering from spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, a rare genetic disorder that involves enlargement of the area at the end of the long bones.
She was accused of pretending to be a 6-year-old orphan from Ukraine by her former parents, Michael and Kristine Barnett.
After she was abandoned by her adoptive parents in 2013, the Barnetts set her up with an apartment in Lafayette, Indiana, while they moved with their three sons to Canada.
Currently living in Indiana, she tells her side of the story, still unheard, in a new documentary.
According to her new birthdate, she would have been in her 30s but barely 20 years old, based on her Ukrainian birth reports.
She is the subject of two television series the 2023 series The Curious Case of Natalia Grace and the upcoming Hulu TV series Untitled Orphan Project.

Natalia Grace Brother Jacob And Sister: Age Gap
Adopted by the Barnett family, Jacob Barnett became an adoptive brother to Natalia Grace Barnett in 2010.
Neither the Barnetts have a daughter, nor does Natalia Grace have a sister, so she has three adoptive brothers.
Jacob is the oldest biological son, born in 1998, out of three sons of Michael and Kristine Barnett.
The Ukrainian birth report shows her birth date as September 4, 2003, so Natalia and Jacob would be around the same age.
Contradictorily, her original birth reports show she was born on September 4, 1989.
That would mean that Natalia has an age gap of about 10 years older than Jacob.
Jacob mentions in the documentary, “The Curious Case of Natalia Grace” that he was first excited to have a sister around his age.
He and his siblings were happy to find a new playmate and warmly welcomed her into the family.
Slowly, as he spent more time with her, he became suspicious of her. He also said there was always a lot of fear in the house as they thought, “What if Natalia harms one of us?”
Since the family abandoned Natalia, he stated that he had not been in contact with Natalia for years.

Jacob L. “Jake” Barnett is a 25-year-old accomplished American physicist who gained recognition as a child prodigy, having extraordinary intellectual abilities with a high IQ of 170.
Lovingly called Jake, he was like any other average child until about 2 years old when he suddenly stopped talking and could not make eye contact with others.
Later, he was then diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and started a remarkable journey of his own.
At the age of 13, he was the co-author of a published physics research paper. Then, at 15, he pursued his Master’s Degree at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
A book on child prodigies, “The Prodigy’s Cousin” by Joanne Ruthsatz, features him attributing the roots of prodigious skills to autism.
Jacob could not attend his father’s 2022 trial since he was pursuing a doctorate in Canada, but still maintains close relationships with his parents.
Jacob is a doctoral student at the Perimeter Institute for Advanced Theoretical Physics (specializing in Quantum Foundations and Quantum Gravity).
Natalia Grace Family And Relations
Natalia Grace has a complicated family as she was initially thought to be an orphan and adopted.
Coming to the United States as an adoptee, she was adopted by Kristine and Michael Barnett in the spring of 2010.
She had a previous adoptive placement in the United States and multiple temporary placements before her adoption by the Barnetts.
After being left alone in the Lafayette apartment by the Barnetts, Natalia was invited to live with Antwon and Cynthia Mans, who noticed that Natalia struggled to live on her own.
The prosecutors for the neglect case against the Barnetts were able to locate Natalia’s birth mother in Ukraine.
Natalia’s biological mother was identified by DNA testing as Anna Volodymyrivna Gava, who was born on April 20, 1979, in Latvia.
