Rodney Alcala Sisters Distance Themself From The Media To Preserve Some Normalcy In The Face Of A Disturbing Family History

On June 24, 2021, Rodney Alcala, who was arrested on the death penalty, was found dead from natural causes.

Rodney Alcala, popularly known as The Dating Game K*ller, is notorious for a wave of m*rders that occurred during the 1970s.

Highlights

  • Rodney Alcala’s Sisters have kept their identities private and have avoided public scrutiny despite their brother’s infamy.
  • Alcala’s sisters have never made public statements or given interviews about their brother.
  • While Rodney Alcala became a notorious serial killer, there is no indication that his family, including his sisters, had any criminal tendencies.

Although a lot has been said about his crimes and the impact they had on his victims, comparatively less has been written about his family, especially his sisters.

This article delves into what is known about Alcala’s sisters and their relationship with the notorious serial killer.

Rodney Alcala Is Said To Have Two Sisters Who’s Identities Are Not Revealed To The Public

Rodney Alcala’s full name was Rodrigo Jacques Alcala Buquor, and he was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1943.

He was the son of Raoul Alcala Buquor and Anna Maria Gutierrez. Alcala’s family and his two sisters moved to Mexico when he was still a teenager.

When their father abandoned the family, Rodney’s mother took her children to Los Angeles, California, for a fresh start.

As interesting as Alcala’s criminal past, the details surrounding his family ties, more so with his sisters, remain vague.

Moreover, what is known is that the Alcala family did not seem to harbor any criminal tendencies or psychopathic tendencies, further deepening the shock of Rodney’s act of violence.

However, his sisters reportedly are leading private lives away from the media, likely attempting to distance themselves from the stigma associated with their brother.

Rodney Alcala’s Sisters Did Not Make Any Public Statements Or Take Interviews About Their Brother

To be related by blood to one of America’s most infamous serial killers will, in all probability, mean a merry round of emotional wounding and public scrutiny.

However, despite their brother’s infamy, his sisters have remarkably maintained an invisibility cloak towards the glare of public life.

It remains unclear how much contact they had with him after his arrest or whether they were aware of his criminal behaviors before they were made so public.

Additionally, his sisters have not made public statements or given interviews about their brother, and it’s believed that they have purposely chosen to remain out of the spotlight.

This silence suggests that Alcala’s sisters must have sought to protect their personal lives from the media storm surrounding their brother’s criminal history.

And so, while other family members of other serial killers are often pulled into the public eye rather abrasively, Rodney Alcala’s sisters have managed to keep a significant distance from the public.

Additional Infomation

  • Alcala graduated from the UCLA School of Fine Arts and later studied film under Roman Polanski at New York University.
  • Peter Medak filmed a biographical film on Alcala’s life, Dating Game Killer, which premiered on the American television network Investigation Discovery on December 3, 2017. On November 3, 2022, a three-part television documentary about Alcala was shown.
  • Rodney was imprisoned at California State Prison, Corcoran, and San Quentin State Prison.
